Blind Cricket World Cup...
There is a version of the game of cricket adapted for blind cricket and partially sighted players. It is governed by the World Cricket Council for the Blind (WBCC) since 1996.
Blind World Cup Events:
New Delhi, India (1998); Chennai, India (2002); Islamabad, Pakistan (2006), and India (2018). In 2012, the first Blind World Cup T20 was held in Bangalore, India. Blind cricket relies on the general use of the 'sweep shot' to give the bat the maximum chance of hitting the ball.
The first Blind Cricket World Cup was held in New Delhi, India. Due to the sponsorship by Hotel Kanishka, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, the tournament was named as "Kanishka World Cup Cricket for the Blind", as informed by the then Director of Administration, Retd. Indian Army Lt Col Sardev Singh and his daughter Rakhi who were volunteering for this tournament. A substantial portion of the cost of accommodation and important events for all teams; Hotel Management/Players are borne by Hotel Kanishk.
