The Cricket World Cup is an international cricket championship held every four years. It is the premier one-day cricket competition and one of the most watched sporting events in the world. The first Cricket World Cup was played in England in 1975 as a series of one-day matches of 60 overs per match. On 25 June 1983, the Indian cricket team won its first ICC Cricket World Cup. For the first time in 1987, it was organized outside England, India and Pakistan. The number of overs per over was also reduced to 50 in the 1987 competition. In 2007, Australia became the first team to win three consecutive World Cup tournaments. There have been 12 World Cup tournaments so far. The Australia cricket team has been the most successful, having won 5 World Cups so far. India and West Indies are the only two countries to have won the World Cup twice.
India won the World Cup in 1983 and 2011, while West Indies won the World Cup in 1975 and 1979. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are the other two countries that have won the World Cup in 1992 and 1996 respectively. England is the only country to have won the final 3 times and hosted the World Cup 5 times. Below is the list of winners and runners-up of the ICC Cricket World Cup.

Till 2011 Cricket World Cup there was a unique record that the Cricket World Cup was never won by the host nation. But in 2011 India won the Cricket World Cup as a host nation. As the cricket world is won up.
