The Under-19 Cricket World Cup is a step in international cricket for budding cricketers. Players like Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Babar Azam, Kagiso Rabada and Tim Southee have also played in the Under-19 World Cup early in their careers.
The 16 countries participating in the ICC U19 CWC 2020 have been divided into four groups of four teams each. India not only starts off as the favorites but are also the defending champions. The Boys in Blue, under the captaincy of Prithvi Shaw, won the tournament in New Zealand in 2018. India has won the U19 World Cup four times so far, the most by any team. The team led by Mohammad Kaif won the tournament in 2000. Virat Kohli, Unmukt Chand and Prithvi Shaw were the other captains when India won the U19 World Cup in 2008, 2012 and 2018.

In the 2002 edition of the U19 World Cup, Australia posted a mammoth score of 480/6 in their 50 overs against Kenya U19 in Dunedin. This is the most teams in the history of the U19 World Cup. Australia then bundled out Kenya for just 50 runs and won the match by 430 runs.

Eoin Morgan of England scored 606 runs in 13 matches. Morgan participated in two U19 World Cups (2004 and 2006). However, he represented Ireland in both the editions. Babar Azam of Pakistan is at number two with 585 runs. India's Shikhar Dhawan holds the record for most runs in a single U19 CWC, the left-hander having scored 505 runs in just seven innings in the 2004 edition of the tournament.
Sri Lanka's Hasita Boyagoda scored 191 off 152 balls vs Kenya U19 at the ICC U19 CWC 2018 in Lincoln, the highest individual score in the history of the tournament. New Zealand's Jacob Bhula scored 180 in the same edition against the same team, and this is the second highest score by a batsman in the U19 CWC.
Australia's Moises Henriques took 27 wickets in 13 matches in the 2004 and 2006 editions of the tournament. Greg Thompson of Ireland is second with 27 wickets from 19 matches.
Australia's Lloyd Pope scores 8/35 against England U19 at the 2018 U19 CWC in Queenstown. These are the best bowling figures recorded in U19 World Cup history. His teammate Jason Ralston's 7/15 is the second best figure against PNG U19.
