Kho Kho is a traditional Indian sport that instills in children the stamina to the natural principles of physical development, and encourages teamwork. The game of Kho Kho is played by teams of 15 to 12 nominated players in each team through two teams.
In this game 9 players enter the field and sit on their knees on the opposite side (the chasing team), while 3 additional players (the defending team) try to avoid being touched by members of the opposing team. After Kabaddi, Kho-Kho is the most popular traditional tag game in the Indian subcontinent. Kho Kho is a game played not only in India but also by the Indian community in South Africa. The word 'kho' is derived from the Sanskrit verb root su- meaning "get up". With Kho-Kho coming into the national limelight, there are many talented sportspersons who are the cause of growth.

Sarika Kale is an Indian Kho-Kho player from Maharashtra. She became the captain of the Maharashtra women's state kho-kho team in 2010, leading the team to three national championships. Selected for the India women's national kho-kho team in 2015, she was made the captain of the team ahead of the 2016 South Asian Games.
India's women's Kho-Kho team captain Sarika Kale recently led the national team to a gold medal at the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) in Guwahati. Sarika Kale At the age of 10, Sarika started playing Kho-Kho and developed an interest in the game. He was the captain of the Jammu and Kashmir State Kho-Kho team and represented India in the 2018 India-Nepal Kho-Kho 5-match series.

Born on 12 March 1997 in Odisha, Mandakini Manjhi is the first Kho-Kho player of her state. She became a part of the Indian women's Kho-Kho team to participate in the 12th South Asian Federation (SAF) Games 2016 in Guwahati. Coming from a poor family, it was challenging for Manjhi to choose Kho-Kho as a sport. But he continued to overcome the odds and move up the ladder of success.
Achievements:
In the year 2012, Mandakini represented her state in the 46th Senior National Kho-Kho Championship held in Maharashtra.
In the year 2013, participated in the 33rd Junior National Kho-Kho Championship in the 59th National School Games held in Delhi.
Mandakini with her team finished second in the 19th East Zone National Kho-Kho Championship 2014. In the same year, his team finished third in the Junior National Kho-Kho Championship held in Rajasthan.
Represented Odisha at the 2015 National Games, In 2016, Mandakini won the gold medal for the nation with the team, was the first Odia girl in the Indian Kho-Kho team to compete.
She is the first Odia woman in the Indian Kho-Kho team for the "12th SAF Game-2016" and won a gold medal.
Praveen Kumar
Praveen Kumar, one such talented player is Mysore University all-rounder Praveen Kumar. One of the very talented Kho-Kho players from Karnataka. He played a major role in both the South Zone of the University of Mysore (UOM) and the All India Inter-University Men's Kho-Kho Championship (2017-18) played in the city.
Praveen started playing kho-kho in middle school (Biyagini Seva Samaj). He later continued his passion for sports by playing sports at Sharda Vilas HS High School. Senior players including Yogesh of Pioneers SC encouraged him to take the game seriously.
Praveen completed his studies as a student of M.Com in Manasagangotri, Mysore. Meanwhile, he represented Karnataka twice in the Senior National Kho-Kho Championship. He was part of the Karnataka senior team which won a silver medal in 2013-14.
The team also finished third in the Senior Nationals held in Telangana in 2015.
In the year 2016-17, Praveen was part of the team that finished third at the All India Inter-University level.
