There are always some players in cricket who know only one type of game and that is attacking. Whereas a batsman who strikes the ball gracefully at intervals with the right technique and scores runs with utmost ease. However, the batsmen cannot remain calm and patient in the ODI format of the game. Apart from these almost perfect batsmen, the team needs individuals who can change the face of the scoreboard in no time with their powerful six-hitting abilities.
With the advent of T20 cricket, it is essential to have a power-hitter in batting, someone who can change the course of the game on his own when the need arises. Players like Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers have taken the art of hitting to another level over the years. These are players who can hit sixes at will "against any bowler, on any pitch, in any format".
He held the record for the fastest 100 sixes in ODIs in the name of Ross Taylor and the person who has broken that record is West Indies all-rounder- Kieron Pollard. He broke that record by hitting six sixes in the first match of the tri-nation series between West Indies and South Africa played in Guyana on 3 June 2016. He completed his 100 sixes in ODIs in just 86 innings and broke Ross Taylor's record of hitting 100 sixes in 116 innings.
