The multisport event will bring people together in sports with a competitive spirit, with over 200 countries participating. The event takes place every four years, with the Summer and Winter Olympic Games every two years.
Hosting the Olympics is a big deal for every country as they attract worldwide attention from the presentation period to the end of the sporting event. Japan is the host for the 2020 XXXII Summer Olympiad.
Due to the worldwide COVID 19 pandemic, the Tokyo 2020 Olympics were postponed to be held from 23 July to 8 August 2021.
A total of 11,656 athletes from 2020 countries competed, including foreign officials, journalists and support staff in attendance for the 2020 Summer Olympics. The Games consisted of 339 events in 33 different sports, held at 42 venues in Japan. Four new sports are karate, sports climbing, surfing and skateboarding making their debuts at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Sports such as baseball and softball are again part of the Olympics for the first time since 2008.
