Women’s Boxing Weight Classes

Overview of Women's Boxing Weight Classes

Boxing competitions classify boxers into weight classes. There are 17 different weight classes for women boxers. To know about the sport, find out why this system is applicable and what are the classes for women's boxing.
To make the boxing fight fair, the boxers are divided into weight classes. Raising a smaller boxer than twice their size causes damage on both sides. Heavy combatants can pack a hard punch, but a smaller one is usually faster. Proper weight classes are also required to prevent injuries during the match.
Women's boxing weight does not vary much between men's boxing and women's boxing. Exceptions include the heavyweight class, where men must weigh over 200 pounds while women must beat 175 pounds. Female boxers also have junior middleweight and mini flyweight classes which do not figure in the men's list.
