This game is such that people of all age groups and age groups understand and adopt it easily.
Where did the word cricket come from?
The earliest known reference to cricket was called cricket in 1598. The name is believed to be derived from Middle Dutch krik (-a), meaning stick, or from Old English krik or krike meaning crutch or stick. Furthermore, there is general consensus among experts that cricket may have been invented during the Saxon or Norman period by children living in the Weald, an area of dense forests and clearings in south-east England. The first reference to cricket played as an adult sport was in 1611, and in the same year, a glossary defined cricket as a boys' game. It is also believed that the cricket may have originated from the ball, with the intervention of a batsman trying to prevent the ball from reaching its target.
Rural cricket had developed by the mid-17th century, and the first English "county teams" were formed in the latter part of the century, as "local specialists" of rural cricket were appointed as early professionals. The first known game in which teams use county names is in 1709.
History of Cricket- By the way, it is not known that when and where the first match of cricket was played between which team. In the early 17th century it was known as a children's game. Later, adult people also started increasing participation in it.
Cricket was initially played on sheep pastures or on its banks. At that time sheep's wool balls (stones or small balls of matted wool) were used as balls, sticks or hooks or other agricultural implements as bats and stools or tree stumps (eg, wickets, gates etc.) were the original equipment.
Actually the beginning of cricket:
According to the facts, the history of this game dates back to the 16th century. At that time people used to play matches among themselves to entertain their mind. It was believed that earlier people of England used to go out of the city for recreational purposes. There he used to spend a few days, during which he also used to play cricket. One more thing is worth noting that cricket has started where the British ruled.
By this time, cricket had already begun in India, North America and the West Indies, but the first definite mention dates back to the 18th century. In 1709, William Byrd played cricket at his James River Estate in the then British colony of Virginia. This is the earliest mention of cricket being played in the world. Cricket established itself as a major sport in the countries south-east of London and England in the first half of the 18th century. Its spread was limited by travel constraints, but it was slowly gaining popularity in other parts of England and women's cricket began in 1745, when the first known match was played in Surrey.
In 1744, the first rules of cricket were written and later revised in 1774, when innovations such as LBW, a third stump, the middle stump and maximum bat width were added. The codes were drawn up by the "Star and Garter Club", whose members eventually founded the famous Marylebone Cricket Club at Lord's in 1787. The MCC immediately became the custodian of the laws and has been amended since then.
The ball stopped rolling on the ground sometime after 1760 when bowlers began to pitch the ball, and in response to that innovation, the straight bat replaced the old "hockey-stick" style of bat. Hambledon Club in Hampshire was the focal point of the game for almost thirty years until the formation of the MCC and the opening of the Lord's Cricket Ground in 1787.
Cricket originated in North America through the English colonies in the 17th century and spread to other parts of the world in the 18th century. It was introduced to the West Indies by colonists and to India by British East India Company sailors. It reached Australia as soon as colonization began in 1788, and the sport reached New Zealand and South Africa in the early 19th century.
Cricket in India:
In 1721, English sailors of the East India Company are reported to have played cricket at Cambay, near Baroda, and this is the earliest reference to cricket playing in India. Cricket was introduced and established in India, and then in Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh through the East India Company.
The first international cricket match was played after 1844 although officially international Test cricket started in 1877. At that time the game was originally played in England, which is now played professionally in most Commonwealth countries.
