How To Teach Basic rules of Cricket To Kids & Beginners?

How to teach basic rules of Cricket to beginners and kids which are easy?

Cricket is played all over the country of India, watched and loved by millions, and our national cricket team is seen as a hero by children of all ages. Cricket is also a fun, social game to play, which is easy to learn and can be enjoyed by boys and girls as young as 5 years old. You will also find that most schools will include cricket as part of their physical education curriculum and that almost every city and suburb will have a team that plays in a local competition. Therefore, while deciding on a great sport for your child to meet, have fun and be active with your child's friends, cricket is a perfect choice. So we'll try to go through the basic rules that kids and their parents can do at home or in the park to develop skills and improve their overall play.

What is cricket, and what are the basic rules of cricket?

  • Cricket is an outdoor sport played in an oval ground.
  • The bat, ball and stump are the main ingredients in cricket without which cricket cannot be played.
  • The fielding team will have a bowler who will throw the ball to the batsman who tries to hit the ball with his bat.
  • The fielding team tries to get the batsmen out.
  • Cricket is played between two teams, each team consists of 11 members / players. Apart from this, there is a 12th member who can replace that member in the team if one member gets injured or goes out for any other reason. But this 12th member can only become a fielding / field guard, it cannot be replaced by a batsman, bowler or wicket keeper.
  • There are 2 umpires who are present on the field to take many types of decisions in cricket, apart from this there is a 3rd umpire who watches the game through the TV screen and in special circumstances the decision of the 3rd umpire. The final verdict is considered.
  • Cricket is played in two innings, in each innings one team bats and the other team bowls and protects the field.
  • The main objective of the team batting in the first innings is to score runs or scores.
  • The main objective of the bowling team is to get the batsman out and prevent runs/scores.
  • In the second innings, the batting team has a target of runs/score which the team in front in the first innings has to achieve.
  • Hitting the ball and running between the wickets and reaching the other end before the fielders can hit the wickets with the ball. Every time you run the full length of the pitch, it's worth 1 run.
  • Which team will bat or bowl first is decided by the captain of the team winning the toss.
  • Hitting the ball on the ground to the boundary is 4 runs.
  • Hitting the ball over the boundary is equal to 6 runs.
  • The fielding team has to get 10 batsmen out before ending the over and resuming batting.
  • The object of the game is to score as many runs as possible before the fielding team takes 10 wickets. The team with the most runs wins.

Cricket Run/ Scores Rule

There are three types of runs scored by a batsman in a cricket game.
  • Running between the wickets: A pitch is made on the field which is 2012 cm long and 305 cm wide. There are stumps on both sides of the pitch and one batsman is standing on either side. Both the batsmen run towards the front stump to take . The bowling team tries to catch the ball before reaching the batsman's stump by hitting the stump with the ball or catching the ball as soon as possible to allow the batsman to score minimum runs.
  • Four: When the batsman hits the ball and the ball goes beyond the prescribed limit while running on the field, then it is called a four, that is, four runs.
  • Six: When the batsman hits the ball and it crosses the boundary without hitting the air, then it is called a six or 6.
  • Extra Runs: Due to the wrong ball of the bowler, the team in front is given one run for each wrong ball.

Wrong Ball Types

  • No Ball: Bowler bowling the ball against the rule i.e. 1. Wrong use of arms 2. Height of the ball many times higher than that of the batsman 3. Fielder being in the wrong position 4. Bowler's foot outside the return crease, it is called No ball is called for which an extra run is given to the front team and no out is valid on that ball other than a run out. Also a free hit means an extra ball is fed to the batsman on which he cannot be dismissed except by run out.
  • Wide Ball: If the ball is too far from the batsman, which he cannot play in any condition, it is considered the fault of the bowler and extra runs are given to the batsmen team.
  • Bye: If the ball does not touch the bat and the wicket-keeper also leaves it, then the batsmen get time to run, it is called bye ball.
  • Leg Bye: If the ball does not hit the bat and hits the batsman and goes away, at that time also the batsman gets a chance to run, it is called leg bye.

Types Of Out

  • Bold: If the bowler hits the ball on the stump and the bats fall, it is called bold, if the bat does not move or falls on the collision, then it is not out.
  • Catch: When the batsman hits the ball in the air and the fielder catches it without taking a note, it is called catch out.
  • Leg Before Wicket LBW: If the ball hits the batsman's leg, it happens many times, but when it seems that the ball did not hit the leg, then it could have hit the wicket, then LBW is given out.
  • Run Out: If the batsman runs between the wickets for a run, then if the ball is caught by any fielder and hits the wicket before the batsman reaches the wicket, then he is considered run out.
  • Hit Wicket: If the wicket falls due to the batsman's mistake, it is called hit wicket.
  • Hitting Ball Two Times By Batsman: The batsman is allowed to play the ball only once, if he touches it again for fear of being out, then he is given out.
  • Handling the ball: If a batsman, without the consent of the opposing team, knowingly handles a ball with a hand that does not touch the bat, he is considered out.
  • Stumped: If the batsman does not touch the ball and runs for a run, then the wicket keeper can get him out with the ball. If he touches the wicket, it is called stumped out.
  • Catch Ball By Bates Man: If the batsman catches the ball with his hand or touches it with his hand to avoid getting out, then he is considered out.
  • Time Out: After the batsman is out, if the other batsman does not reach to play within 3 minutes, then he is considered out. This is called time out.
  • Obstructing: If the batsman abuses the other team or if a person comes out in front of them while catching the ball, then he is out.

There are three formats of cricket at the international / national level.

  • Test Cricket
  • One Day Cricket
  • Twenty 20/ T20 Cricket

There are differences in some rules in all these three formats, which are especially between the days played or how many balls ie overs.

Basic rules of test cricket.

  • In this format, a test cricket match played between two teams is played for 5 consecutive days and if the decision of the match comes in those 5 days, then the match is declared as a draw and any team is victorious. Won't happen
  • In the match of Test cricket, whichever team plays, each team gets a chance to bat twice and bowl twice. In which all players get two chances.
  • In the match of Test cricket, a game of up to 90 overs is played in 1 day and accordingly there is a game of 450 overs in the whole 5 days and in this the bowler can put as many overs as he wants in this match, in this the over like one-divisi There was no limit.
  • There is an advantage in a Test match that if a ball goes from behind the batsman, then it is not called a wide ball.
  • In an innings of a Test match, each team playing has two DRS and after 90 overs, both the teams get two more DRS again.
  • There is no restriction on fielding in a Test match, in which the team can put as many players as they want on the boundary and within the circle of 30 yards as per their wish.
  • No free heat is given in a test match, if someone throws a no ball, that ball will be considered a no ball and the next ball will not get the free heat of a no ball.

What is followon?

  • If the batting team has scored so many runs in the first innings and that second team has scored very few runs in comparison to the first team, then the first team gives a follow-on to the other team in front.
  • For the teams playing in Test matches, 1 tea break, 1 meal break are given in a day which is of 30 minutes and 45 minutes respectively.
  • There are three sessions in a day of a Test cricket match and 30 overs are done in one session, after which both the above breaks are given.
  • After every 80 overs in a Test match, the bowling team can take a new ball if they want.

Know about the main rules of one day cricket.

  • A 50 over match is played in one day cricket, there are 6 balls in each over, in this way 300 balls are played.
  • In the first innings, the batting team plays these 50 overs and gives a target of runs to the front team.
  • If 10 players of the team are dismissed before 50 overs, then the runs scored till that time are considered as the target and the next innings is played.
  • In the second innings, 10 members of the team have a target of runs, so that one run has to be completed in 50 overs. It depends on the performance of the team, in how many balls or overs they can achieve the target.
  • The main objective of the bowling team in both innings is to get the batsman out and to allow the minimum number of runs to be scored in the second innings , either to get them out or to control the pace of the runs .
  • Rule of Time Out :- If a player is out / retired hurt, then the batsman who comes after him should take guard from the umpire within 3 minutes or come to the crease to play otherwise that player should come to play. The player is declared out.
  • Appeal not out: - If a player is out lbw, then in that case it is necessary to appeal to the fielding players, otherwise that player will not be considered out.
  • If the ball does not fall, then not out: - If a player is playing and if the ball or bat hits the stump and the ball does not fall, then that player will not be considered out.
  • Rules for injured players: - If the player leaving the field after being injured and after returning to the field does not inform the umpire, then in that case 5 runs are deducted for the fielding team.
  • Tampering with the ball: - If a player stops the ball with his hand while batting, then in that case that player will be considered out.
  • Mankading, the crease left before throwing the ball: - Under this rule in cricket, when the running batsman leaves his crease before throwing the ball, then getting out is called mankading. But according to this rule, this runout does not go to the bowler's account.
  • Disturbing the batsman:- If the fielding player tampers with the playing batsman, then in that case 5 runs will be added to the batsman's account.

General rules of T20 cricket.

T20 cricket is a new form of the game which was started in 2003. The reason behind starting this type of game was to make cricket more exciting than before and more number of spectators participate in it. Although the methodology of this game is almost similar to that of other cricket disciplines, yet specific changes have been made in this game. The format of T20 cricket is generally similar to that of ODI, only the difference of overs is, as the name suggests. This game is between two teams and each team plays a match of 20 overs. Since it is a quick game, the players do not use the dressing room. They sit in the canopy on the side of the field.
  • In T20 cricket, out of the total 20 overs, each bowler will do a maximum of 4 overs in five bowlers.
  • Anytime the bowler crosses the pumping crease, it will be a no ball. The batting team will get 1 run instead and the ball will also not be valid. The ball after this will be a free hit on which the batsman will not be out except for a runout.
  • If the Empire feels that any team is wasting time unnecessarily, then according to his intelligence, he will deduct that team as a penalty of 5 runs.
  • In normal T20 cricket, the interval is 20 minutes. If for some reason the overs of the match is reduced, then the time of the interval becomes 10 minutes.
  • If both the teams play a match of five overs, then the match will not be canceled.
  • In T20 cricket, one short pitch ball is allowed in each over.
  • To calculate the run rate of the team, against the runs scored each over is reduced by the runs scored by the other team.

Fielding:

  • No more than 5 fielders can be kept in the leg-side for the given period.
  • In T20 cricket, only two players will be outside 30 yards for the first 6 overs. All other fielders will remain inside the circle.
  • The fielding team will have to complete the entire 20 overs within 80 minutes. Otherwise, the batting team may have to score extra runs. If the batting team also wastes time, then the Empire can take the same decision against them.

The decision to draw:

20 In cricket, the game never ends on a par unless there is a natural reason. In the form of super over, both the teams have to play one over each. If a team loses two wickets in this over, then that team will lose or else it does not happen then the team that scores the most runs will win. If there is a tie in this also, then whichever team has hit the most sixers will get the victory, even if there is a tie, then the team will win on the basis of fours.

Rules for empire:

  • In the game of cricket, it is most important for the umpire and before and after the match, take a good look at the ground or pitch or get information about it so that it helps in knowing that there is no problem during the match. does.
  • Although whatever decision the Empire gives is final, but still the Empire should know that whatever decision he is giving, he is giving it by living in the rules.
  • Although the decision of the Empire is final, yet there is a third Empire above it, who takes care of this, whether the on-ground Empire has given the decision wrong?
  • The Empire is the head of the match in a way that takes full care of the match.

Rules for players:

  • By the way, the first rule for the players is that they should play this game with full honesty and sportsmanship. Apart from all this, there are some other general rules about which you should know.
  • A player will not misbehave with any other player who is playing in the opposite team nor will make any wrong comment on him.
  • If a player is batting, then in that case after the dismissal of a player does not come to the field within 3 minutes, then in that case that player is considered out.
  • Before the start of the match, the captain of the match has to give the list of 11 players who are playing in that match to the match referee.
  • It is necessary for those players on behalf of the fielding team that if the player in front is stumped, then in that case the fielding players have to appeal, otherwise the batting team will not be considered out.

Bowler's rules:

For bowling, first of all, any bowler has to keep this in mind while throwing his hair, he should turn up to 15 degrees, more than that it is considered wrong.
While bowling to the bowler, it is necessary and must take RunUp, bowling while standing is considered invalid.
The action of the bowler is measured according to the state of the art technology so that it can be determined whether the bowler is actually bowling correctly or not.

Rules for the batsman:

  • While battling, Batman should be wearing full dracht and necessary accessories like helmet, gloves etc.
  • It is necessary for Batman to come to play within 3 minutes of the former player's dismissal in the match, otherwise he will be considered out.
  • It is important for the batsman that he should keep in mind that while playing the match, he does not talk to the player of any fielding team without any reason.
  • While playing for a batsman, it is important to keep in mind that while playing, he should not touch the ball with his hand except with the bat.

Rules for the third umpire:

  • In the game of cricket, the job of the third umpire is to keep an eye on the decision of the on-field umpire, apart from this, he does not have any special work.
  • Apart from this, it is necessary for the third empire to talk to the field empire on some inhuman incidents happening in the field and try to solve that problem.
  • If any player challenges the decision of the On-field Empire, then in that case check that decision and give the correct decision.
