The period from Amsterdam Olympics 1928 to Melbourne Olympics 1956 was a very proud time for the Indian hockey team. During this, the Indian team won 6 consecutive gold medals. Jaipal Singh Munda was the first captain of the Indian hockey team in an Olympic event.
