List of World Series champions

World Series Winners List...

The World Series is the annual championship series of Major League Baseball (MLB), first held in 1903 when the Boston Pilgrims defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates. See also Winners of Most Valuable Player (MVP).
The World Series Championship is the best of seven playoffs and is a competition between the champions of baseball's National League (NL) and American League (AL). Except in 1903, 1919, 1920, and 1921, when the winner was determined through a best-of-nine playoff. The winning team is awarded the Commissioner's Trophy.
The first team to win a World Series twice in a row were the Chicago Cubs in 1907 and 1908, both series against the Detroit Tigers. And the Tigers became the first team to lose the championship twice in a row.
Here is a comprehensive list of all the World Series since 1903. This list includes the number of games won in the series and the year in which the title was contested. Some teams have different names based on the year they played the World Series.
