शाइनी अब्राहम विल्सन भारतीय एथलीट हैं जिन्होंने भारत एथलेटिक्स में विश्व में 75 बार से अधिक बार प्रतिनिधित्व किया। 1996 में उन्हें ‘बिरला पुरस्कार’ प्रदान किया गया। 1998 में शाइनी को ‘पद्मश्री’ से सम्मानित किया गया। एशिया के 10 सर्वश्रेष्ठ एथलीटों में होने के कारण उन्हें 1991 में चीनी गीनी पत्रकार सम्मान भी प्रदान किया गया।

शाइनी कुरिसिंगल विल्सन (नी इब्राहीम, जन्म 8 मई 1965) एक सेवानिवृत्त भारतीय एथलीट हैं। वह 14 वर्षों तक 800 मीटर दौड़ में राष्ट्रीय चैंपियन रहीं। उन्होंने अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रतियोगिता में 75 से अधिक बार भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व किया। वह सम्भवत: एकमात्र ऐसी खिलाड़ी हैं जिन्होंने चार बार विश्व कप में एशिया को सम्बोधित किया है। वह शायद एकमात्र एथलीट भी है जिसने जकार्ता में 1985 से लगातार छह एशियाई ट्रैक एंड फील्ड मीट में भाग लिया है। इस अवधि के दौरान उन्होंने एशियाई प्रतियोगिताओं में सात स्वर्ण, पांच रजत और दो कांस्य पदक जीते। उसने सात दक्षिण एशियाई महासंघ (SAF) मीट से कुल 18 स्वर्ण और दो रजत पदक प्राप्त किए, जिसमें उसने भाग लिया।

शाइनी का जन्म केरल के थोडुपूजहा जिले के लडुकी मै हुआ था। इन्हें बचपन से ही खेलों के प्रति रुझान हो गया था। वह एथलेटिक खेलों में रूचि रखती थीं। उन्होंने कोट्टायम के खेल विभाग में ट्रेनिंग लेकर अपनी प्रतिभा को निखारा। वास्तव में केरल के इसी खेल विभाग के विभिन्न शहरों के प्रसिद्ध एथलीट पी.टी. उषा और एम. डी. वालसम्मा ने ट्रेनिंग ली थी। बड़े होने पर इन सभी के कोच एन. आइ. एस. कोच पी. जे. देवेस्ला थे। बाद में शाइनी अब्राहम ने खेलों की शिक्षा त्रिवेन्द्रम के जी. दी. राजा स्पोर्ट्स स्कूल से ली। इसके पश्चात् वह पलाई के अल्फोसा कॉलेज में शिक्षा प्राप्त करने गईं।
शाइनी का कैरियर पी. टी. उषा के समय में उनके साथ-साथ चलता रहा। 1982 में नई दिल्ली के एशियाई खेलों में शाइनी अब्राहम तथा पी.टी. उषा दोनों ने देश का प्रतिनिधित्व किया । 1981 में शाइनी 800 मीटर दौड़ में देश की राष्ट्रीय चैंपियन बनी, उसके अगलेँ ही वर्ष 1982 में नई दिल्ली में एशियाई खेल होने थे। इस विजय के पश्चात् शाइनी ने देश की जिस भी प्रतियोगिता में हिस्सा लिया, उसमें पदक अवश्य प्राप्त किया।

शाइनी को संजोने के लिए कुछ महान क्षण हैं, विशेष रूप से 1984 के लॉस में अनुभव एंजिल्स ओलंपिक खेल, जहाँ वह ओलंपिक प्रतियोगिता के सेमीफाइनल में प्रवेश करने वाली भारत की पहली महिला बनीं। और इससे भी महत्वपूर्ण, उस रिले टीम का भी हिस्सा रहीं जिसने एशिया का नया रिकॉर्ड बनाया था। उसके बाद रिले टीम का यह रिकॉर्ड और भी बेहतर हो गया था। 1987 में रोम में विश्व चैम्पियनशिप के दौरान उस निशान पर सुधार करने के बाद एशियाई रिकॉर्ड बनाया था।
1989 में दिल्ली में हुई एशियाई ट्रैक एंड फील्ड मीट शाइनी के लिए अत्यन्त यादगार प्रतियोगिता रही क्योंकि गर्भवती होने के बावजूद शाइनी 800 मीटर दौड़ में द्वितीय स्थान प्राप्त कर सकीं जबकि चीन की सुन सुमेई प्रथम आईं थीं। लेकिन सुमोई डोप टेस्ट में पॉजिटीव पाई गईं और शाइनी को विजेता घोषित कर दिया गया। उन दिनों शाइनी के कोच श्री रामसिंह थे, जिनके निर्देशन में वह ट्रेनिंग ले रही थीं।1984 के लॉस एंजिल्स के ओलंपिक खेलों को कभी नही भुला सकेंगी जहां वह ओलंपिक खेलों के सेमीफाइनल तक पहुँचने वाली पहली महिला खिलाड़ी थी।
शाइनी ने चार ओलंपिक खेलों में भाग लिया, 1985 में जकार्ता से शुरू करने के बाद छह एशियन ट्रैक एंड फील्ड मीट में लगातार हर बार हिस्सा लिया । शाइनी को अच्छे अनुभवों के साथ-साथ कुछ खट्टे-कड़वे अनुभव भी हुए। 1986 में सियोल में हुए एशियाई खेलों में जब वह अपने लक्ष्य के करीब पहुँचने वाली थीं, तब उन्होंने अपना ट्रैक बदलते हुए भीतरी लेन में दौड़ना शुरू कर दिया, अंतत: उन्हें खेल से ‘डिसक्वालीफाई’ कर दिया गया। वह 1992 के बार्सिलोना ओलंपिक की याद भी ताजा करती है जब वह ओलंपिक में भारत की ध्वजवाहक बनने वाली पहली महिला बनी थीं।
शाइनी अब्राहम के लिए एक अत्यन्त महत्त्वपूर्ण उपलब्धि यह रही कि वह अपने बच्चे को जन्म देने के बाद भी प्रतियोगिता में पहले से तेज गति से दौड़ सकीं। 1995 में चेन्नई में हुए दक्षिण एशियाई फैडरेशन (SAF) खेलों में वह अपनी बेटी शिल्पा को जन्म देने के बाद 800 मीटर दौड़ में रिकॉर्ड बनाने में कामयाब रहीं जब उन्होंने 1 : 15 : 8 समय का रिकॉर्ड बनाया। वह पहली बार 2 मिनट से कम समय में 800 मीटर की दौड़ लगाने में सफल रही थीं।

शाइनी ने चार विश्व कप प्रतियोगिताओं में भाग लिया। वह एकमात्र ऐसी खिलाड़ी हैं जिसने छह एशियन ट्रैक एंड फील्ड मीट में भाग लिया। उन्होंने यह सिलसिला 1985 में जकार्ता से आरम्भ किया था। इन एशियाई प्रतियोगिताओं में शाइनी ने सात स्वर्ण, दो रजत तथा दो कांस्य पदक जीते। इसके अतिरिक्त दक्षिण एशियाई फैडरेशन (सैफ) खेलों में शाइनी ने सात बार भाग लिया और 18 स्वर्ण तथा 2 रजत पदक जीते।
शाइनी अब्राहम का विवाह अन्तरराष्ट्रीय तैराक तथा ‘अर्जुन पुरस्कार’ से सम्मानित खिलाड़ी चेरियन विल्सन से हुआ है और शाइनी का पूरा नाम शाइनी अब्राहम विल्सन हो गया। शाइनी फूड कारपोरेशन ऑफ इंडिया में डिप्टी मैनेजर (खेल) के पद पर कार्यरत हैं। उनके तीन बच्चे हैं: शिल्पा, सैंड्रा और शेन। उन्हें 1985 में ‘अर्जुन पुरस्कार’ से सम्मानित किया गया फिर 1996 में उन्हें ‘बिरला पुरस्कार’ तथा 1998 में ‘पद्मश्री’ पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया। शाइनी को चीनी पत्रकार पुरुस्कार प्रदान भी किया गया। यह पुरस्कार उन्हें एशिया के दस सर्वश्रेष्ठ एथलेटिक खिलाडियों में से एक होने पर 1991 में प्रदान किया गया।
