The National Sports Awards were announced by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on 2 November 2021. Every year, they are given to recognize and reward excellence in sports. President Ram Nath Kovind presented the National Sports Awards 2021 and Adventure Awards at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This year 12 players were honored with Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award and 35 players with Arjuna Award.

These awards are given annually to recognize and reward excellence in sports.

Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award:-

It is given for the outstanding and most outstanding performance in the field of sports by a sportsperson during the last four years.

It is presented to the coaches for doing excellent and meritorious work on an ongoing basis. Also, enabling sportspersons to excel in international events.

It is given to corporate entities (both in the private and public sectors), sports control boards, sports bodies at the state and national level, such as NGOs. Who has played a visible role in the field of sports promotion and development.
President Kovind presented the Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar, 2021 to Indian Oil Corporation Limited for its outstanding contribution in the field of 'Promotion of Sports through Corporate Social Responsibility'.
