The Hockey World Cup is an international field hockey competition organized by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The Hockey World Cup was organized by Spain in the year 1971. It is held every four years. The first three tournaments were held every two years. The 1978 Cup was the only tournament to be held three years before the previous tournament. Since 1982, the tournament has been held after every four years.
There have been 14 World Cups from 1971 to 2018. The previous Hockey World Cup was the 14th edition of the Hockey World Cup 2018. Belgium won the Hockey World Cup 2018 after beating the Netherlands 3-2 in the final on a penalty shoot-out after a 0-0 draw. The Pakistan men's hockey team is the most successful team in the Men's Hockey World Cup, as they have won the title 4 times. Netherlands and Australia won 3 times, Germany 2 times, India and Belgium 1 time. The Belgium hockey team is the current World Cup winner.
