List of World Swimming Championships Host Cities...
The event was first held in 1973 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia and is now held every two years. From 1978 to 1998, the FINA World Championships were held every four years, in the years between the Summer Olympic years. From 2001 to 2019, the championship has been held every two years in odd years.
These cities have hosted the championship twice: Barcelona (2003 and 2013), Rome (1994 and 2009) and Perth (1991 and 1998). In 2022, Budapest will host the event for the second time, and Fukuoka will do the same in 2023. The circle has started again with Budapest hosting again in 2027.
