A significant obstacle to weight loss is an imbalance in the digestive system. Many people have difficulty losing fat due to poor digestive health. The fire element present in Surya Mudra is known to improve digestion by increasing metabolism in the body. Regular exercise helps a lot in reducing obesity.
How to do:
  • You sit in a comfortable position keeping your back straight.
  • Move your ring finger towards the palm of your hand and connect it with the thumb.
  • Place your hands on your thighs and knees and remain sitting in this position.
  • Meanwhile, you can do breathing techniques or meditate.
  • Surya Mudra is to be done for 45 minutes each day with a gap of 15 minutes between each time.
  • Practicing Surya Mudra early in the day gives more benefits.

  • Anti-phlegm Mudra:

    Anti-phlegm Mudra reduces phlegm and bile within the body. The three natures of the body are air, phlegm and bile. phlegm and bile elements represent fire and earth respectively, while Air represents air. Bile represents the element Agni in the body and is known to speed up the metabolism in the body. Phlegm represents the element earth, too much of which can indicate excess weight in the body. Pitta These entities related to physical heat (digestion/metabolism) and the circulatory system are stimulated and reinforced in this mudra. The purpose of Anti-phlegm Mudra is to remove excess phlegm element from the body and restore balance among all other elements. This is an excellent posture for those who have excess phlegm or deficiency of bile in their body. They can also do this mudra regularly to prevent diseases. However, people who have excess pitta (heat) in their body should practice it sparingly.
    How to do:
  • First of all, sit in a comfortable position keeping your back straight.
  • Bend your ring finger and little finger towards the palm and join them with the thumb.
  • Apply pressure and hold the position for as long as it is comfortable for you.
  • You should practice this posture daily for 30-45 minutes with 15 minute repetitions.
  • Linga mudra:

    Linga Mudra is the pose of Lord Shiva. Yoga is widely associated with Hinduism. Linga Mudra is an effective posture that serves to direct internal conflicts. Linga Mudra symbolizes the victory of positivity over negativity. Practicing this posture generates heat in the body. This heat activates suppressed metabolism, which stokes the fire of digestion. This heat detoxifies the body by burning excess fat or 'ama' (toxins), ultimately resulting in weight loss.
    How to do:
  • Come to seated cross-legged postures Sukhasana (Easy Pose), Padmasana (Lotus Pose).
  • Keep your eyes closed to increase concentration and avoid distractions.
  • After this, join the fingers of both the hands and knead the palms together. Remember to keep the left thumb straight.
  • It is recommended to practice this posture for 20-30 minutes each day.
  • Increasing pressure on the palms helps generate more heat, thereby enhancing the effect of this posture.
  • Vyan Mudra:

    Vyan Mudra refers to the 'Vata' humor in the body which recognizes the properties of air. The effect of air and space elements on the body is immense. The body needs to energize itself with the properties of air which help in improving the nervous system in the body. When practiced correctly, Vyan Mudra is known to help people become more self-aware and practice a higher state of consciousness. With mindfulness in mind, it becomes easier to control weight and reduce fat effectively.

  • Sit in a comfortable position in a safe, well-ventilated area.
  • To begin the process, keep your spine straight and eyes closed.
  • You have to turn your index and middle fingers towards the palm and connect them with the thumb.
  • Apply light pressure and remain in this position.
  • Practice this position for 15-20 minutes daily to feel the positive effects of Vaayana Mudra.

  • Gyan Mudra :

    The word 'Prana' means 'life.' Prana Mudra essentially means 'pose of life'. Prana Mudra is one of the most important mudras as it helps in activating the energy in the body. And it represents life itself. Prana Mudra helps a person to activate the energy in the body and allows the organs to function efficiently. Regular practice of Prana Mudra activates the root chakra, due to which energy flows throughout the body without any problem. Prana Mudra, when done with Pranayama, gives the best results.
    How to do:
  • To do Prana Mudra, sit on the floor with your legs crossed. To increase concentration, keep your back straight and eyes closed.
  • This mudra is done with the fingers of both hands.
  • Join the tip of the thumb to the tips of the ring finger and little finger, and repeat with the other hand.
  • Remain in this position for 20-25 minutes to feel the effects of Prana Mudra.
  • It is also essential to maintain healthy habits of practicing yoga postures for weight loss.
