  • The world's largest cricket stadium Motera Stadium was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind and renamed as Narendra Modi Stadium.
  • World champion boxer Mary Kom has been appointed as the chairperson of the International Boxing Association's (AIBA) Champions and Legends Committee.
  • Phil Mickelson (50 years) won the PGA Golf Championship. He became the oldest major winner in history.
  • The 2nd edition of the Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2021, is scheduled to be held in Karnataka. The KIUG-2021 will be hosted by JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Bengaluru, in partnership with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  • Babyrojisana Chanu (51kg) and Arundhati Choudhary (69kg) clinched gold medals and Lucky Rana, secured a silver as Indian women emerged as the top team with 10 medals (5 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze) at the 30th Adriatic Pearl Tournament in Budva, Montenegro.
  • PV Sindhu won the silver medal at the BWF Swiss Open Super 300 in Basel after losing 12-21, 5-21 to Carolina Marin in the final of the women's singles event.
  • Jigmet Dolma, SPO of Ladakh police, secured fourth position in the Dhaka Marathon 2021.
  • Incumbent Ajay Singh was re-elected the Boxing Federation of India’s President.

  • Assam Rifles Public School, Shillong became the first Khelo India Sports School from the North-East. At present, 9 Sports Schools have been approved across the country. 
  •  Former India boxer and Asian Games gold medalist Dingko Singh passed away on June 10, 2021 after a prolonged illness.
