Ravi Kumar Dahiya is an Indian wrestler in the 57 kg category. Ravi Kumar hails from Nahari village in Sonipat district of Haryana. The 24-year-old wrestler won a bronze medal in the 57 kg weight category at the 2019 World Wrestling Championships. He also qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 from India in the 57 kg freestyle event and won the silver medal. Ravi Kumar Dahiya is an Indian freestyle wrestler who won a silver medal in the 57 kg category at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He is also a bronze medalist of the 2019 World Wrestling Championships and a two-time Asian champion.
Ravi Kumar was born in 1997 and hails from Nahari village in Sonipat district of Haryana. From the age of ten, Dahiya was coached by Satpal Singh at Chhatrasal Stadium in North Delhi. His father, Rakesh Dahiya, is a small farmer. But once upon a time he was very fond of wrestling and had dreamed that he would bring medals for the country. But due to poor financial condition of the family, he lost his courage and started farming, after the birth of Ravi Dahiya, he inspired the son for wrestling, Rakesh Dahiya himself has done more work than he got the son Ravi Dahiya. The result of that is that the son has got the silver medal today.

Ravi Kumar Dahiya Career:

Ravi Kumar started wrestling in his early teens and won a silver medal at the 2015 Junior World Wrestling Championships in Salvador de Bahia in the 55kg freestyle category. He suffered an injury in 2017 that left him out of action for over a year. In his return year, he won a silver medal at the 2018 World U23 Wrestling Championships in Bucharest, India's only medal in the competition in the 57 kg category. Dahiya remained unbeaten in the 2019 Pro Wrestling League, representing the title winning team Haryana Hammers.
After losing the bronze medal match, he was placed fifth at the 2019 Asian Wrestling Championships in Xi'an.
At the start of the 2019 World Championships, Dahiya earned one of the six available quota places for the 2020 Summer Olympics, defeating European champion Arsene Harutyunian in the round of 16, and 2017 world champion Yuki Takahashi in the quarterfinals. After losing to defending champion and eventual gold medalist Zour Uguev in the semi-final round, he settled for bronze. On the back of his medal win, Dahiya was included in the Lakshya Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in October 2019.
Ravi Kumar Dahiya won gold medals at the 2020 Asian Wrestling Championships in New Delhi and the 2021 Asian Wrestling Championships in Almaty.
At the 2020 Summer Olympics, Dahiya won the first two bouts on technical superiority. In the semi-finals, he won by pinning Kazakh wrestler Nurislam Sanayev in the last minute, falling behind on points in the bout. There were reports that Dahiya was bitten by his rival Nurislam Sanayev in the semi-final match. In the final, Dahiya had to be content with silver as he was defeated by ROC wrestler Zaur Uguev by 4–7 points. Ravi Kumar Dahiya became the second Indian wrestler after Sushil Kumar to win an Olympic silver.

In the final match, he lost to 26-year-old Russian wrestler Uguayev, thus leaving India satisfied with the silver medal here.
In the semi-final match, where the shameful act of a Kazakhstan player was caught on camera and now the whole world is cursing, on the other hand Indian wrestler Ravi Dahiya's game is being praised everywhere, he won the final. In the match too, the senior player was given competition.
In this exciting match, NoorIslam Sanayev, seeing the defeat close, put a dent on Ravi's side, this can be clearly seen in the video. Playing in the 57 kg weight category, this young wrestler defeated NoorIslam to make it to the finals.
Ravi Dahiya, who was trailing 2-9 at one point during the game, made a strong comeback, with the spirit with which he played till the last minute, the Kazakhstan wrestler was completely defeated. Ravi equaled Sushil Kumar, who reached the final of London Olympic 2012, Sushil is currently in Delhi's Tihar Jail in the Sagar Dhankhar murder case.
