Sports Personality of the Year winners list: who won every edition of the BBC SPOTY award from 1954.
In 1954 the BBC Spotty Prize was first presented to middle and long distance runner Sir Christopher Chataway. The BBC Spotty Award winner is the player, judged by a public vote, who has the most success that year. Sports Personality of the Year (SPOTY) award recipients must be either British or live in the United Kingdom and play a significant part of their sport. The winner is selected from a pre-determined shortlist.
The award was claimed by the first woman, swimmer Anita Lonsbrough in 1962, who won three Commonwealth gold medals in Perth, two years after claiming Olympic gold in Rome. Tennis star Andy Murray holds the record for most spotty wins, claiming the trophy on three occasions. Formula One drivers Damon Hill and Nigel Mansell and boxer Henry Cooper have claimed the trophy on two occasions. The most recent award winner is tennis player Emma Radukanu, who won the 2021 award.
