Some facts:

The first IIHF World Junior Championship official tournament was held in 1977, although the first three tournaments from 1974 to 1976 were held unofficially.

In 2024, the World Juniors Hockey Tournament will take place in Gothenburg, Sweden from December 26, 2023 to January 5, 2024.

The 2023 edition is the Junior Hockey World Champions Canada. They earned their 20th championship title by defeating the Czech Republic 3–2 in overtime in the gold medal game.

Team Canada is the most successful team at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships, leading the all-time gold medal count with 20 gold.

The Soviet Union, the CIS and Russia have a combined 13 gold.

The IIHF World U20 Hockey Championships, commonly known as the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, is held annually, usually in late December, ending in early January.
