The first tournament of the IIHF U18 Women's World Championship was held in 2008.

The 2023 edition IIHF Women's World U18 World Champions are Canada. Canada defeated Sweden in the gold medal game to win its 7th championship title.

Participation in the junior edition of the IIHF Women's World Championship is limited to female ice hockey players under the age of 18.
