Vaman Dhauti method, benefits and precautions...
This yoga action is also called Gajakarani or Vamandhauti. When an elephant feels retching in its stomach, it inserts its trunk deep into its neck (esophagus) and throws out the contents of the stomach. Thus, we have received this method from nature itself. This method provides relief from nausea when there is excessive acidity in the stomach or when one has eaten something indigestible or bad. This method also relieves food allergies and asthma.
It is also called Vamandhauti. Vamana means vomiting. In this, vomiting is done to remove excess bile and mucus.
Vaman Dhauti Steps:
Take one liter of lukewarm water and add one spoon of salt in it. Sit properly and swallow four-five glasses of this salty water so that it does not reach the throat. After that lean forward. Keeping the body stable, insert the index and middle fingers of the right hand as far as possible till the throat and also take out the tongue so that vomiting may occur. All the water comes out again in half a minute. Continue until all the water from the stomach is gone.
This method can be repeated every week or twice a week and is best done in the morning on an empty stomach.
