The British Open (Open Championship) is the third major golf tournament of the year. The tournament is held in the United Kingdom and originated in 1860 and is the oldest golf tournament. The British Open is one of the four major championships of men's professional golf. Run by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, the tournament is played each year on a different links-style golf course.
