List of Wisden Cricketers of the Year

The Five Cricketers of the Year represents a tradition, with cricketers selected for the honor by the Wisden Cricketers Almanack. These are mainly based on "his influence on the last English season". The award began with the naming of "Six Great Bowlers of the Year" in 1889, and continued with the naming of "Nine Great Batsmen of the Year" in 1890 and "Five Great Wicket-Keepers" in 1891. Which has been in place at Wisden since 1889, making it cricket's oldest individual award. Since 1897, with a few notable exceptions, the annual award has recognized five players of the year.
