Chris Gayle has the most centuries in T20 cricket, he is at the top of this list...
Gayle's record for most centuries in the shortest format, in T20 cricket, is held by West Indies great Chris Gayle, who has scored 22 centuries in his career that began in 2005.
Among T20 cricketers, Gayle has played for 29 different teams including Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the likes of Team Punjab, Team Bangalore and Team Kolkata in the Indian T20 League.
In T20 cricket, Chris Gayle's maiden century came a match later when West Indies played against South Africa in the opening match of the 2007 ICC World Twenty20. The hard-hitting batsman scored 117 off 57 balls to help West Indies post 205/6.
Gayle has scored 22 centuries in T20 cricket, out of which only two have come for the national team. Meanwhile, six have come in the Indian T20 League, five in the Bangladesh Premier League and one in the Australian Big Bash League. He is yet to score a century in the Pakistan Super League.
Gayle has also hit a record 1,056 sixes in his 463 T20I matches. He is the only batsman to hit more than 1000 sixes in T20 cricket. This is followed by 1,132 fours, which is again the most by any player in the format.
Gayle holds the highest individual total in T20 cricket among all the records in the shortest format. Playing for Team Bangalore in the 2013 Indian T20 League, the left-handed batsman scored an unbeaten 175 in just 66 balls against the now defunct team Pune at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. He is one of only two players to score more than 170 runs in a T20 innings along with Aaron Finch.
Gayle ranks first in the list of players who have scored most centuries in T20 cricket. Australia's Michael Klinger, David Warner and Aaron Finch follow Gayle in the leaderboard with eight T20I tons.
The record for most centuries by an Indian player in T20 cricket is held by KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, both of whom have scored six centuries in this format. For Rahul, four of those six centuries have come in the Indian T20 league and two have come for the Indian cricket team.
Rohit Sharma has scored only one century in the Indian T20 league while four have come for the national team. The sixth score was scored for Mumbai against Gujarat in the 2006–07 season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
