The British Men's Rugby League Champions...

The Super League (SL) is the top level professional rugby league club competition in the Northern Hemisphere, with the majority of the teams coming from England. The competition started in 1996.
Following a dispute in 1895, the 22 northern rugby clubs split from the Rugby Football Union and formed the Northern Union, with 22 clubs organized into a league. At the end of the 1895–96 season, Manningham was the first club to become champions, one point ahead of Halifax.
