The Cricket World Cup is one of the largest sporting events in the world, and is organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) every four years. One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament, organized and administered at international level. Cricket is the most prestigious game among the various sports played across the world.
The Cricket World Cup was first contested in England in 1975. It was played as a series of one-day matches of 60 overs per side. It was held outside England, in India and Pakistan for the first time in 1987. In the 1987 competition also the number of overs per side was reduced to 50.
Initially, 50-over ODIs were played and this was the "ICC Men's World Cup" and over time, a new format of the World Cup was introduced called the "ICC T20 World Cup", with 20 one-overs. The match was played.
Currently, the 50-over World Cup is organized after every four years and the T20 World Cup is organized every two years.
In 2007, Australia became the first team to win three consecutive World Cup tournaments. Till now 12 World Cup tournaments are taking place. Australia is the most successful country which has won 5 World Cups. India and West Indies are the only two countries that have won the World Cup twice. India won the World Cup in 1983 and 2011, while West Indies won in 1975 and 1979. England won in 2019.

T20 Cricket World Cup was held in India for the first time, in the year 2007 for the first time that India won the 20-over World Cup. The ICC T20 World Cup was scheduled in 2020, with the International Cricket Council confirming in July 2020 that the tournament was postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the COVID protocol, the tournament was held in UAE instead of India. It was the seventh edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
