योग हमारे संपूर्ण व्यक्तित्व - शारीरिक, मानसिक, आध्यात्मिक और सामाजिक पहलुओं की देखरेख करता है। शारीरिक भाग लयबद्ध योग आसन द्वारा प्रशिक्षित किया जाता है, मानसिक पहलु ध्यान और प्राणायाम से तथा इन सबसे ऊपर है, आध्यात्मिक पहलु जिसकी देखभाल दिव्यता पर एकाग्रता के जरिए की जाती है। योग एक आसन है, चाहे पारंपरिक हठ योग के लिए या आधुनिक योग के लिए। यह शब्द संस्कृत से लिया गया है। जबकि सबसे पुराने उल्लिखित आसन वास्तव में ध्यान के लिए आसन लगाए हुए हैं, आसन में खड़े हो सकते हैं, बैठे, हाथ-शेष, मोड़, उलटा, आगे झुक सकते हैं, पीछे झुक सकते हैं, या प्रवण या ढालुआं अवस्था में पुनरावृत्ति कर सकते हैं।

योगासन क्या है?

योगाभ्यास शरीर, मन, आत्मा और ब्रह्मांड को एकजुट करती हैI यह व्यक्ति को शांति और आनंद प्रदान करता हैI यह एक व्यक्ति के व्यवहार, विचारों और रवैये में भी महत्वपूर्णपरिवर्तन लाता है। योग के दैनिक अभ्यास से हमारी अंतः शांति, संवेदनशीलता, अंतर्ज्ञान और जागरूकता बढ़ती है। योगासन साँसों के लय एवम् सजगता के साथ किया जाना चाहिए। जब हम अपने हाथों को योग के लिए उठाते हैं, तो पहले हम अपने हाथ के प्रति सजग होते हैं और फिर हम इसे धीरे-धीरे उठाते हैं, साँस के साथ लय में करते हैं। योगासन के एक मुद्रा से दुसरे मुद्रा में जाना एक नृत्य की तरह सुंदर है। प्रत्येक आसन में हम जो कुछ भी सहजता से कर सकते है, उससे थोड़ा ज्यादा करें और फिर उसी में आराम से विश्राम करे यही योगाभ्यास की कुंजी है । शरीर को अपनी स्वीकार्य सीमा से परे ले जाने पर ये आसन हमारे मन का विकास करतें हैं।
